Family Reunification and Minor Authorizations

Your life is in Spain, and your family should be too. At C&Co. Legal, we guide legal residents and Spanish citizens through the complex bureaucratic process of bringing their spouses, children, and ascendants. We put together flawless files proving the economic and housing means necessary so that immigration has no excuses to deny the visa.

Uniting your family with legal security

1. Family Reunification (General Regime)

We manage the process from start to finish for foreigners with a renewed card. We request the adequate housing report, audit your payslips against the IPREM, and manage the consular visa for your children or spouse.

2. Union Citizen Family Member Card

If you are Spanish or European, we process the community card for your non-EU family members (unregistered domestic partners, dependent ascendants), securing their residence and right to work in Spain for 5 years.

3. Residence of Minors Born (or not) in Spain

We process the residence authorization for children of legal residents born in Spanish territory (automatic procedure) or those minors not born in Spain who have been residing continuously for a minimum of 2 years.

Want to bring your family?

The reunification process requires meeting strict economic and habitability thresholds. We assess your viability for free before starting the procedure.

Legal questions about reunifying family.

Clear answers regarding economic requirements (IPREM), housing reports, and which family members (children, parents, spouses) you can legally bring to Spain.

Under the General Regime, you can reunite your spouse or registered domestic partner, your minor or disabled children (and those of your partner), and your ascendants (parents or parents-in-law) over 65 years old, provided you justify they are dependent on you.

It is calculated based on the IPREM. To reunite a family member (e.g., your spouse), you need to prove monthly income equivalent to 150% of the IPREM. For each additional family member, an extra 50% is added. However, for the reunification of minors, there are more flexible economic criteria to protect the child's best interests.

It is a mandatory document issued by the Autonomous Community or Town Hall (in Madrid it is requested regionally) certifying that your current home has sufficient habitability, surface area, and number of rooms to accommodate the family member you wish to bring to Spain.

If you have Spanish or EU nationality, your family members do NOT fall under the General Regime Family Reunification, but rather the Community Regime. It is a more beneficial, faster process that grants them a 5-year card with the right to work.
